About Amai Alinedi Jumbe
Amai Jumbe , a loving wife, mom, grandma (ambumbu), mother-in-law, friend , churchmate will forever be remembered for many things in particular her love , generosity and kindness . She passed on , only after a short illness . She was going about her life , her farming projects , building projects , her church projects , was planning a trip to Ireland 2022 with dad , all was going well until Covid hit , we quickly seek help for a home doctor as this affected the whole household , dad , our two sisters and the house helper ba Judy. They were all doing well , but mom only needed a top up of oxygen and was referred to levy Mwanawasa hospital by the home doctor and said she will only be there for 8 hours and will come back home again . She was quite concerned going there and asked if it was best to try and get treated home, but the level of oxygen needed was higher level one , so we encouraged her to go , so she went in . We think it all started with poor onboarding , no bed or ward assigned for a very long time , a long wait , she was then put in a ward where there were so many people dying due to covid, my sister recommended the high cost side of Levy Mwanawasa hospital to be best, though spacious, the follow ups were infrequent and no tests done . They assumed the infection was gone, so she was not on any medication for 4 days , no further tests and when the tests where done the pneumonia had spread every where and with a poor breathing device, everything just started going downhill. My brother and cousin where there that night and they tried to speak with mom or move her , they said she was not responding , they called the doctor then , they assessed and confirmed that she had passed on ...she never got to say goodbye with the breathing device in the mouth ..it was a hard two weeks of the device going against her breath ....we will never forget this moment ...“We watched our physically and mentally strong mother for two weeks and a bit keep up with her breathing saturations which could have been improved with the simplest more effective breathing device . We were alerted to this way too late as it was closer to the day she passed on . We quickly ordered a proper one from South Africa but sadly the flight was only coming in a day after she passed on . The inappropriate breathing device was the one which was literally blocking her breathing instead of enhancing it ...the extreme neglect too of not being tested or checking her chest regularly resulted into extreme pneumonia which was all over her chest and was not detected earlier . It is so painful to think her life was prematurely ended ...a little twist her fate could have been reversed. We look to God for the bigger plan and pray that all our family and friends are comforted with the promise of resurrection that we will meet mom again in heaven .
